Community Outreach

SAINT STANISLAUS KOSTKA PARISH IS ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN OUR LOCAL MICHIGAN CITY COMMUNITY

The parish typically partners with outside agencies to support community programs. Our facilities are utilized for promotion and collection, with parish volunteers responsible for organizing these efforts and coordinating with program representatives.

We are partners with THE SACRED HEART FOOD PANTRY, with weekly donations of food, cash, gift cards, and volunteer hours of support. The parish hosts an annual “Blessing of the Pets” and in advance, collects pet food, animal toys, supplies, and cash for the MC HUMANE SOCIETY. We work with agencies like THE SALVATION ARMY to provide families with Christmas gifts and toys. We also support the USMC TOYS FOR TOTS toy drive. The BLANKETS FOR BABIES program provides hand-made or purchased car sear sized blankets to the LAPORTE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT or FRANCISCAN HEATH FOUNDATION’S PRENATAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. Through the PARISH RESALE SHOP, we provide clothing and home goods to shelters and family services in the community, along with acts of goodwill to the public or organizations that require items to support their purpose.

Our facilities have been used to host blood drives for both the RED CROSS and VERSITI BLOOD CENTERS. We regularly share our hall with the YOUNG AT HEART SENIOR SOCIAL CLUB and GIRL SCOUTS. Hall space has also been provided to outside organizations on an as needed basis, subject to availability.
