The total campaign goal is to raise between $2.5M-$3M over three years. During Phase 1, we will address repairs to the bell towers which will cost approximately $1.67M, which includes a 10% contingency. This includes repairs to the pre-cast columns and cracks in the walls of the towers from mortar joint failure.
Phase 2 will address the remaining masonry walls of the church, which includes all other spalled bricks and tuckpointing the rest of the church façade. An evaluation and required repair will be conducted to secure the 87 stained glass windows, with the 2 rose windows being most vulnerable. Previous repairs were made with an improper mortar which is contributing to the deterioration of the building. The cost for Phase 2 is estimated to be $1.4 M.
All mortar will be restored to its original, darker color.

Working in collaboration with our consultant, Partners for Sacred Places, St. Stanislaus Kostka has already concluded its feasibility study, which determined the campaign could raise between $2.5M-$3M. An Economic Halo Study has been completed, estimating St. Stanislaus’ annual economic impact on the local community to be approximately $4.6M. (See related link.) Additionally, our parish recently facilitated a Community Asset Mapping event that brought together community stakeholders in an effort to develop existing assets, future collaboration and potential community donors. We have applied for several grants and continue to seek funding through these opportunities.
Embracing our Future, Brick by Brick has been selected as our campaign theme and logo, and a significant marketing effort has been put into place. The campaign steering committee is now focusing on soliciting direct contributions from all St. Stanislaus Kostka parishioners. Through a dedicated team of parish volunteers, we are personally reaching out to all parishioners to discuss donation and pledge opportunities with the intention of attaining 100% participation.

When outside funders and donors see that a parish has strong internal support, it indicates a well-run campaign where everyone is working together. Outside funders find it more compelling to donate when they see that kind of unity and enthusiasm.
-
A pledge is a promise made in good faith. Making a pledge allows donors to maximize their support by fulfilling their commitment over a period of years. With a pledge, you can make it part of your family’s budget as you plan expenses moving forward.
-
Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can do so by indicating this when they pledge or donate. Campaign contributors may be officially recognized, but the amount of a donor’s gift will not be publicized.
-
No. We still need your general giving contributions, meaning the regular Sunday offering to provide for all the operating expenses of the parish, including salaries, utilities, program materials, and upkeep.
-
All donations and pledges designated to support the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church’s “Embracing our Future, Brick by Brick” Capital Campaign will be restricted for essential repairs and improvements to the church building. This includes the bell towers, facade, windows, and other necessary repairs, as well as any related capital campaign expenses. Please add “Bricks” to the memo line of a check , envelope, or email to indicate your intention.

St. Stanislaus received a $400,000 matching grant from Sacred Places Indiana, a program of Indiana Landmarks, which is funded by the Lilly Endowment. This grant was one of only ten awarded statewide. It is a major achievement. Indiana Landmarks also awarded St. Stanislaus a non-matching $25,000 planning grant to be used for Phase 1 of the project.
In addition, we are recipients of the very prestigious National Fund for Sacred Places grant. This is another matching grant for $250,000. The National Fund is a program of Partners for Sacred Places in collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and funded by the Lilly Endowment. We were one of only 24 congregations nationwide selected to receive this grant and chosen from approximately 500 applicants! We are also the only congregation from Indiana.

It is important to know and share that the Capital Campaign for St. Stanislaus Kostka has been approved by the Diocese of Gary through the College of Priest Consultors and Bishop Robert McClory.
